“I'm constantly struck by the cruel irony of this memory. Here was this man who would spend the rest of our time together trying to make himself big in everyone's eyes - chasing success, money, influence, and any spare air in every room he was in - in every way he'd been taught how. But it was in those moments, orange in hand its peels defying gravity, sitting on the floor, fingers dried from oil and calloused from living - that's when he was the biggest to me. A giant. That’s when he was my hero.”
